Overlanding by Day, Camping by Night
The 2022 Four Wheeler Overland Adventure Presented by Jeep will include mainly off-road travel through the awe-inspiring California backcountry by day, and camping by night. The route has been carefully crafted to include fascinating historical sights combined with fun backcountry travel on generally easy terrain that’s compatible for various sizes of overlanding vehicles. The route is planned to include parts of the Mojave Road in Death Valley and will center around the fascinating history of General George S. Patton Jr. ‘s WWII Desert Training Center. Group campsites will be utilized, where you’ll have a chance to enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow overlanders.

The 2022 Four Wheeler Overland Adventure is limited to 12 participant overlanding vehicles. The cost is just $600 per vehicle for two passengers ($200 each additional passenger; there’s a four-passenger limit). We’re sorry, but no pets are allowed (service dogs with proper paperwork are exempt but MUST be declared when applying for the 2022 Four Wheeler Overland Adventure Presented by Jeep).
Children must be 12 years old or older.
Itinerary and number of participant vehicles may be subject to change depending in part on final land-use permits.
No advertising or non-sponsor stickers, vehicle wraps, or similar will be allowed on participant vehicles as a courtesy to Overland Adventure sponsors. 4WD club stickers are OK, depending on the size of the sticker. Please inquire beforehand.
Vehicles must be overland-style (defined as: capable of extended backcountry travel, outfitted with integrated sleeping accommodations either in or on the vehicle or in or on an off-road-capable trailer), be equipped with four-wheel drive, have a two-speed transfer case, and be street legal. The vehicle submitted on the application must be the vehicle driven on Overland Adventure unless approved by Four Wheeler prior to the event.
No restroom facilities are available at the Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night camps, so all participants are responsible for providing their own facilities.
A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance and registration will be required at check-in on October 10, 2022. Vehicles will also be checked to ensure they have the required equipment: rollbar, full ‘cage, or factory-installed hardtop; tow strap or rope, recommended rated at two times the vehicle weight (no metal hooks); full-size spare tire; jack capable of lifting your vehicle and a tool capable of removing lug nuts; fire extinguisher with gauge indicating good/full, appropriately stored; seatbelts for all vehicle occupants; recovery points front & rear—i.e., tow hooks, hitch receiver, etc.; No tow balls.
Participants will be chosen by the Four Wheeler staff from entries received. If you’re selected to join us, you’ll be notified no later than August 15, 2022. Soon after, you’ll be provided with a registration code and website address to complete online registration and submit payment.
All participants will be required to have a GMRS radio (minimum of 15 watts, with external antenna) for communication. More info on the topic will be provided to participants prior to Overland Adventure.
Overland Adventure email updates, including schedule of events, route, camping location information, and so on, will be sent to participants prior to the event.
